These terms govern your use of OutdoorWire.com (the “Site”). By using the Site you agree to them. If you don’t agree, don’t use the Site.
1. Information only
Trail information on the Site is compiled from public data sources (including the USDA Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, USGS and OpenStreetMap contributors) and may be incomplete, out of date or wrong. Routes open and close, conditions change, and agency data can contain errors. Always confirm current status, closures, permits and restrictions with the managing agency before you go.
2. Assumption of risk
Off-road driving, overlanding and backcountry travel are dangerous and can result in vehicle damage, serious injury or death. You are solely responsible for your safety, your passengers, your vehicle, your route choices and your compliance with all laws and land-use rules. Difficulty ratings, Rig Check results, trip plans and GPX files are guidance, not a guarantee that any route is safe, passable, open or legal for your vehicle. You voluntarily assume all risks of using the Site’s information.
3. No warranty
The Site and all content are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
4. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, OutdoorWire.com and its owners, team and partners are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special or punitive damages, or any injury, death, property damage or loss, arising from your use of, or reliance on, the Site or its content. Where liability can’t be excluded, it is limited to the greater of $100 or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
5. Accounts and submissions
If you create an account, keep your login secure; you are responsible for activity under it. When you submit content (trail reports, photos, club listings), you confirm you have the right to submit it and grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, modify and distribute it on and in connection with the Site. We may moderate, edit or remove submissions. Don’t submit anything unlawful, misleading, or that infringes others’ rights.
6. Affiliate links
Some links are affiliate links; we may earn a commission at no cost to you. See our affiliate disclosure.
7. Data and licenses
Map and trail data include material © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License (ODbL), and US government public-domain data. Other Site content is owned by OutdoorWire.com and may not be copied without permission except as allowed by law.
8. Changes
We may update these terms. The date above shows the latest version. Continued use after a change means you accept it.
