Glamis/Imperial Sand Dunes Undergoing Facelift - Public Welcome to Participate.

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is in the process of developing a Recreation Area Management Plan to guide the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area through the next decade. The current plan was written in 1987 and is in need of revision. The recent listing of Threatened and Endangered Species, use patterns and demographics of the Imperial Sand Dunes have changed in the past 13 years bringing new issues and concerns to be addressed.

Public involvement is an important component of the planning process. In order to gather input from the most users, the BLM has provided a number of ways in which you can comment on this project. Please provide your input no later than February 29, 2000.

Editor's Note: If you care about your ability to recreate in the Glamis/Imperial Sand Dunes area you absolutely must make your opinion known. You can be sure than the people who would like to eliminate all OHV recreation will be out in force and working to eliminate or severely restrict human access to these areas. We urge you to get involved and attend an open house or at the very least visit the website and make your opinion count.
